A Graceful Beginning in NYC
In deep reflection at a recent recital
This Friday, July 11, I’ll step onto the stage at Opera America in New York City for a very special recital—An Evening of Grace in New York. Though the tickets have officially sold out (still hard to believe!), I remain overwhelmed with gratitude for everyone who made this moment possible. Your support, encouragement, and belief in my journey as a young artist mean more than words can say.
This program is one of my most personal yet—filled with classical masterworks, sacred pieces, and a few musical surprises. Each piece tells part of the story I hope to share: a story of beauty, reverence, and joy through music.
There’s something timeless about . . . Bach
There’s something timeless about beginning a recital with Johann Sebastian Bach. His music doesn’t just start a concert—it opens a space for reflection, reverence, and stillness. For this very special evening in New York City, I’ll begin with one of Bach’s most beloved melodies: the Air from Orchestral Suite No. 3, often known as Air on the G String. You may have heard it in films, weddings, or quiet moments of reflection—it’s that timeless.
Simplicity is everything.
Though originally composed for strings and continuo, this version is arranged for solo piano. It’s one of those rare pieces where simplicity is everything. The gentle rise and fall of the line, the quiet dignity of each phrase—it invites the listener to breathe and get lost in its story.
In preparing this piece, I found myself leaning into silence as much as sound. Each note has to speak clearly, almost like a prayer. And I think that’s why it’s the perfect way to open this recital. A way to begin with stillness. A way to let the music speak before any words are said.
In the days ahead, I’ll be sharing a few more reflections on pieces in the program. For now, I just want to say thank you—for listening, for caring, and for walking this journey with me.
I’m honored to share this moment with you, and to begin this special evening not with fireworks, but with grace.
🎶 With love + gratitude,
Grace
Can’t make it in person? You can still support my musical journey here.
